Taking good governance a step further, Hyprop has launched an independent ethics hotline. KPMG will operate the facility.
“Tip-offs have repeatedly been shown to be the most effective way of identifying fraud and other contravention of ethics in an organisation,” says Hyprop CEO Pieter Prinsloo. He adds that reporting to the Hyprop Ethics Line can be anonymous at the caller’s instance and is open to both staff of the group and the public at large. Hyprop has embarked on an extensive campaign to educate staff on the optimal use of the Hyprop Ethics Line for maximum benefit.
The Hyprop Ethics Line serves as a reliable conduit between management and employees, operating 24 hours a day 365 days a year. KPMG will provide Hyprop with a regular analysis of calls received and consequent investigations will be launched as necessary.
Prinsloo says Hyprop’s intention is to proactively address instances of unethical conduct that could damage the group’s reputation and undermine its commitment to upstanding corporate citizenship. “The hotline is an initiative of our Social and Ethics Committee and is integral to our continuing commitment to good corporate governance as well as being part of our risk management strategy.”
The Hyprop Ethics Line toll-free number is 0800 00 65 63.
